Getting started with WebSell
What is WebSell and how does it work?
WebSell is an all-in-one platform for e-commerce that lets you start, grow, and manage your business.
We create your online store according to your specifications and connect it directly to your in-store Point of Sale system. You can then manage your business and website from the WebSell platform. Our smooth integration with leading point of sale systems sets us apart from other e-commerce platforms.
WebSell enables you to sell on your webstore, via social media, through online marketplaces, and your brick and mortar store.
What Point of Sale systems does WebSell integrate with?
WebSell uses your point of sale software database to maintain inventory, customer, and sales information. We currently offer integrations for the following POS and ERP systems:
- Windward System Five
- pcAmerica’s Cash Register Express (CRE)
- Retail Management Hero (RMH)
- Microsoft’s Retail Management System (RMS)
- LS Central
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Why is an integrated solution better than a regular webstore?
Integration eliminates the need to maintain two sets of data for your inventory, sales, and customers.
As you do normal activities in your point of sale system like sell products, add items, receive inventory, and create sales, that information can be made quickly and easily available on your webstore.

How much does WebSell cost?

Can I use my own domain name with WebSell?
Yes, you can use your own domain name with WebSell. You can use domains registered to you or your business for your WebSell webstore.
Which languages does WebSell support?

Can we host the solution ourselves?
No, WebSell is a hosted solution and will remain so in order to meet our customers’ needs for simplicity, security, and code maintenance.
As a hosted solution, our customers get all software updates and feature improvements as we release them. As new security vulnerabilities are found, fixes are pushed out to all of our webstores to make them more secure. We handle the backend so you don’t have to.
Selling on WebSell
What do I need in order to start selling online?
To start selling on WebSell, you only need a WebSell subscription and products to sell.
When signing up to WebSell you’ll also select a way to get paid and how you’ll pay for your webstore.

Where can I sell with WebSell?
WebSell lets you sell products wherever your customers are. You can sell via your webstore, online marketplaces, and social media.
WebSell currently has integrations with Amazon Seller Central, eBay, Google Shopping, Facebook, and Instagram. Connecting your store to any of these marketplaces requires a monthly fee to maintain. Request a demo to learn more about pricing and mention what you’d like to integrate with to your demonstrator.
What do I do when I get an order?
You will be notified immediately by email when an order is created on your webstore.
Within 15 minutes your software will download the web order and notify you on your local machine that a web order has been downloaded to your POS.
Payments on WebSell
How can my customers pay for purchases through my webstore?
WebSell stores can accept payments from all major European and US credit cards, PayPal, BitCoin, eCheck, and certain gift cards.
What is a payment gateway?
A payment gateway is a third-party payment processor that lets you accept online payments.
What currencies does WebSell work with?
WebSell webstores can accept any currency.
However, limitations can be presented by your third party payment processors and POS systems. Currency limitations for supported POS systems are as follows:
- Cash Register Express: 1 currency per POS database
- Retail Management Hero: Any currency and multiple currencies
- Microsoft RMS: Any currency and multiple currencies

How do I process a web order on WebSell?
Order processing varies according to your Point of Sale system:
- Cash Register Express: CRE’s web order management interface provides a simple means of processing the transaction.
- Retail Management Hero: Our Get Web Orders POS add-on assists in adding the transaction to the POS so you can complete the sale, just like someone standing at the counter.
- Microsoft RMS: Works identically to our RMH integration with a fully-functional Get Web Orders POS add-on.
How will customers know its safe to purchase from my webstore?
WebSell is a third-party certified Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) Level 1 Service Provider. This assures the highest level possible when it comes to industry standards in e-commerce payment security, set by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is sponsored by the card brands themselves (Visa, Mastercard, American Express).
Furthermore, our software and online services are subject to annual external and internal penetration testing, as well as weekly external security scanning from an Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV).
To ensure the highest level of protection, our infrastructure includes industry-leading Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) provided by AlertLogic, Cisco ASA hardware firewalls, and web application security firewalls to detect and mitigate threats and attacks at all levels.
The latest SSL/TLS encryption is used to securely transmit your shoppers’ card details to payment gateways on your behalf and we never store sensitive card details such as the full PAN (primary account or card number) or CCV code.
All of the synchronizations between your in-store POS system and your WebSell webstore is also conducted over the same SSL endpoints.
Our annual on-site security audit is conducted by Trustwave, the leading provider of PCI-DSS compliance, with Payment Security Council-certified Qualified Security Assessors (QSAs) and rigorous processes, are in place to ensure the safety of cardholder data.
While they may claim to be, none of our direct competitors has the same high level of payment security certification. Ask them for an Attestation of Compliance (AoC) signed by a Qualified Security Asssesor (QSA), and check for them in the Visa Global Registry of Service Providers.

WebStore Management on WebSell
Can I make changes to my webstore myself?
Yes. After the implementation, you’ll be able to control everything you need for day-to-day operations and more.
You’ll have full control over what items and item content is displayed through the software and your POS database. Most features of the webstore and static content are controllable/editable through your Web Store Manager.
How customizable is the design of a WebSell WebStore?
WebSell websites are very customizable. If you take a look at our webstore showcase you will see just how unique we make each site, taking into account each customer’s store branding so your customers know that they have found your site when they arrive.
WebSell has designers on staff that can provide you with any level of design help you need. In addition, we offer designer training so that any web designer can learn to build beautiful websites on the WebSell platform.
How much control do I have over the products on the webstore?
You have 100% of the control over what items appear on your webstore and the volume of detail is shared about those products.
Do I need to be a designer or programmer to change my store’s design?
Most of a WebSell webstore’s content may be easily edited by you or your staff.
Other portions of the design, such as changing the general page layout, colors & fonts, are best handled by the WebSell design team or your own dsesigner/developer.
Shipping with WebSell
How does shipping work with WebSell?
WebSell integrates with ShipWorks, which is the most flexible, most powerful way to import, manage, ship, and track your online orders. Alternatively, very configurable manual methods are also available.
- Cash Register Express: Shipping information is configured through the WebSell WebStore Manager and can be further configured and supplemented with rules, automated calculation with USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.
- Retail Management Hero: Shipping information is stored in the POS and can be further configured and supplemented with rules, automated calculation with USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc. via your WebSell WebStore Manager
- Microsoft RMS: Shipping information is stored in the POS and can be further configured and supplemented with rules, automated calculation with USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc. WebSell WebStore Manager
Can I get a third-party to take care of shipping?
Order fulfillment can be provided by third parties.
However, resources are available through your integration to easily ship your own orders.
Learning with WebSell
What learning materials have you got?
Original training materials exist on the WebSell Help Center, including screen-shots and step-by-step directions to most topics of interest. More recently a library of detailed video tutorials has been added to outline both the fundamental and most advanced features of the platform.
Today, much of the original knowledge base has been migrated to a public forum where other retailers may add topics and WebSell staff may create new articles for continued learning. You can also check out the WebSell blog which contains how-to guides and useful e-commerce marketing articles.
Where can I discuss tips and techniques with other WebSell users?
